Statement of Policy

The aim of this policy is to communicate the commitment of James Price the Proprietor and all staff to the promotion of equal opportunities in Phil’s Taxi’s and to all of our customers.

It is our policy to provide equality to all, irrespective of:

• Gender, including gender reassignment• Marital or civil partnership status

• Having or not having dependants• Religious belief or political opinion

• Race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins, being an Irish Traveller)

• Disability• Sexual orientation• Age.

We are opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination. All customers and employees will be treated fairly and will not be discriminated against on any of the above grounds. 

We recognise that the provision of equal opportunities in the workplace is not only good management practice; it also makes sound business sense.

The proprietor has specific responsibility for the effective implementation of this policy. Each driver also has responsibilities and we expect all our employees to abide by the policy and help create the equality environment which is its objective. In order to implement this policy we shall Communicate the policy to employees and relevant others

Monitoring and review

The effectiveness of our equal opportunities policy will be reviewed annually

Complaints

 All complaints of discrimination will be dealt with seriously, promptly and confidentially.

Every effort will be made to ensure that employees who make

Complaints will not be victimised. Any complaint of victimisation will be dealt with seriously, promptly and confidentially. Victimisation will result in disciplinary action and may warrant dismissal.

General Policy Statement

 

Our policy is to provide and maintain working conditions, equipment and systems of work, which are safe and healthy for all our employees. We also accept our responsibility for health and safety of persons other than employees who may be affected by our activities. The arrangements for implementing this policy and the particular duties of persons for safety matters are specified within the policy. Our policy will be revised in the light of changes in circumstances of our business or amendments in the law. The effectiveness of this policy will be periodically reviewed and updated.

  

Health and Safety Policy

Organisation

 

-          Overall and final responsibility for health and safety in the organisation is that of:

-           Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring implementation of this policy is that of:

Each employee/Driver

 

-              All employees have to:

1.  Co-operate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters

2.  Not interfere with anything provided in the interest of health and safety

3.  To take care of their own health and safety and that other persons who could be

affected by their actions

4.  Report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person

 

-          The responsibility for consulting with employees on matters of health and safety is with:

Accidents, First-Aid and Work-Related

-          There are first aid kits kept in each vehicle in the case on an incident. See vehicle handbook for first aid box location.

-           All accidents and cases of work-related ill health are to be recorded in the accident book.

The accident book is kept in vehicle handbook.

 

Reporting Accidents

-          The person responsible for reporting accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences are the employee/driver

-          All accidents will be investigated by James Price

-           All cases of work related sickness absence will be investigated by James Price

 

Risk Assessments

-          Risk assessments for existing and new activities will be undertaken by James Price

-           Responsibility for ensuring the action required in the risk assessments is implemented

lies with James Price

-          Assessments will be monitored and periodically reviewed by James Price

 

Emergency Procedures - Fire and Evaluation

-           Fire extinguishers are maintained and checked by James Price Monthly and also yearly at vehicle plateing

-          In the event of a fire the driver must safely bring vehicle to a halt and exit the vehicle, if necessary and safe to do so help and passengers.  Immediately call the emergency services 999 and move a safe distance away from the vehicle.   If it is safe to do so use the extinguisher in vehicle to contain the fire until emergency services arrive but never put themselves or passengers at risk.
